Born of Acadian parents, Gaston Bernard
grew up in a family
where musical gatherings were commonplace.
His earliest memories are of his
grandmother playing reels on the harmonica while foot-tapping in time.
Matapat
benefits from Gaston's warm and sincere vocals.
He adds texture to the band's
sound by switching with art between fiddle, guitar and mandolin.

Le souvenir
de sa grand-mère jouant de l'harmonica en s'accompagnant du tapement de pieds
est encore présent à sa mémoire.
Au cours de sa carrière, il a joué aux côtés
d'artistes de renom : Ouzo Power, Davy Spillane, Hothouse Flowers, Neil Toner,
Karen Young, Murray Head.
Composer and arranger, Simon Lepage brings to the band his
rich background in world music, jazz and classical music.
Accomplished bass
player with more than 15 years of experience as a performer.
Simon
participated at prestigious venues such as the Francofolies
(Larochelle and Montreal), and the Montreal International Jazz Festival.

Bassiste et contrebassiste
accompli, il compte plus de 15 années d'expérience de la scène et du studio.
Ses nombreuses participations à différents festivals (Francofolies de

témoignent de sa polyvalence.
Tommy Gauthier is one of the most accomplished and versatile
musician of the Québec folk music scene.
He is currently studying the violin
at the University of Montreal while teaching at the University of Quebec. As
the most recent addition to the band.
His tremendous talent and
improvisational skills have already put a stamp on the band's sound and
performances.

Étudiant le
violon à l'Université de Montréal, il enseigne également à l'Université du
Québec.
Nouveau membre du groupe, sa versatilité et ses talents
d'improvisateur confèrent à Matapat une sonorité et un groove à nul
autre pareil.

François Dauphin Born in Notre-Dame des Prairies in the
Lanaudière region. François is the last recruit of de band.
12 years ago this
young man gave his first performance in step dance with "l'Ensemble
Folklorique La Foulée"from Joliette.
Now a teacher and artistic director of
this traditional dance company.
François studies at the Cégep régional de
Lanaudière in Jazz/Pop percussions and Drums.
With his assets the last recruit
gives a faithful rhythm to the band
François Dauphin
Né à Notre-Dame des
Prairies dans la région de Lanaudière, il est la dernière recrus de l'ensemble
Matapat, il y a maintenant 12 ans.
François donnait ses premières prestations
de gigue québécoise auprès de "l'Ensemble Folklorique la Foulée".
Aujourd'hui
professeur et Directeur artistique de cet ensemble, il étudie au Cégep
régional de Lanaudière à Joliette les percussions et la batterie Jazz/Pop.
Avec ses atouts la dernière recrue donne une cadence fidèle au groupe.
