Jeffrey Kelly presents...a Christmas Special first broadcast December 12th 2006
Requiem copyright2006
You stood witness to the transport
As the smoke curled silently amongst the trees
The imagery of death machines was beyond your disbelief
The sky glowed red and in the darkened day caused by the falling rain
Above your head no moisture fell but soon blended with your skin
I touched your eyes and thought of times long since
When I would joke and laugh awhile with the children without sin
You held the child so close to you as though your breast was mine
I pointed to the left or right although you did not cry
I turned to share another dawn with an angel who passed by
He pointed to the heavens he pointed down to hell
It was then I left the compound and faced toward the west
I walked along the village way and heard the tall bell ring
I could hear the choirboys singing fervently the sacraments from the chapel house within
I touched your soul as you rushed by the old forgotten gate
No braid of flowers to adorn your hair
For the ceremony would come too late
No hallowed ground upon your face
Nor marker where at you lay
But then aroused by sentiment I headed east once more
To the sounds of ancient death machines and their voluptuous roar
